    converted from apple

Hi, Guys! I'm a recent escapee *AHEM* convert from the iOS to Android as of two weeks ago; I really don't know what took me so long, LOL!

Anyway, I'm glad to be free of Apple's ridiculously restricted ecosystem. Started off by getting a Galaxy S III and I'm loving it!!! I'm trying to get rid of my iPad now and get a proper tablet. Got a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, but then I heard about the Xoom, and it sounds like just what I'm looking for: 10.1" screen, microSD card slot, 3G, 32GB ROM. That's what got me here, I was researching the Xoom and stumbled across this forum.

I need to make a decision on a tablet ASAP so I can get rid of the iPad and return the Galaxy Tab. I'm pretty much sold on the Xoom, but I have questions before I make the purchase. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

Glad to be a part of the Android universe!

Well, as I said, I was looking at the Xoom. But I'm wondering if there are any issues that I should be aware of: problems with rooting? and issues with updating to 4.1?

I know the model is relatively old, and I'm wondering if it's even worth it to get this model, or purchase a later model.

IMHO the Xoom is still a relevant device. Easy to root and rom, even has 4.2.1 rom.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to put it back on my short list. This decision is proving more difficult than I had thought it would be.

No problem on rooting or flashing of custom rom
    Xoom is a hardcore device.

If you have a good offer. Grab it.
Old or new its doesn't matter as long as it suit your need. You cannot chase technology.

For technical support, not to worry. We will here for you.

I see that there's a refurbished one for $289, is that a good deal?

If yes, for the start to play with... Grab it.

I pulled the trigger last night, I found a refurbished one on Amazon for $280. I should get it by Thursday. It says it has the 4G LTE upgrade. so we'll see.

    Can't wait!
