Using 4OD on a Xoom in the UK

I found this difficult to get working with very little info out there, but I got there in the end, so thought I would share.

First, download and install Adobe Air from the market.

Now set your browser's User Agent to Desktop.

Now navigate to 4OD in your browser, and you're away.

You can also use BBC iPlayer in the browser with your User Agent set to Desktop.

you can also do this by typing "about:debug" in the standard browser and changing ur UI settings to desktop, thats how ive been doing it for months

If about:debug annoys you, then try ICS Browser +. It's based on the stock browser, but with some additional features, including a persistent user agent setting.

Sorry about that. I'm in the UK, but turned my UK Xoom into a GED device.

Why not download Dolphin browser? That's what I use to access BBC iPlayer, 4OD and the ITV player. Once you set the user agent it stays set.

I do like using both the BBC iplayer and the 4OD. The only issue with the 4OD service is the regular advert break where you typically get four 30 second adverts.

As for my browser accessing those services I use the Opera mobile one.

I found the performance quiet poor on the 4od desktop site, nowhere near as good as the bbc iplayer.
Fortunately the mobile site works well on my xoom and you don't need to change the user agent either. Just add a m. to the web address :-)
