A few questons about XOOM MZ601

    Hi,

I wanna buy this lot on ebay.
I live in Russia and have a few questons about it.

    1. Russians 3G (HSDPA) frequency are 2100 MHz. In description of this lot specified that HSDPA frequency are 850 MHz. I ask seller about it, he says, that he dosen't sure about it, and it can be 850/1900 MHz and that I must search specification on the Internet. I google it and found some inconsistent results. For example there specified 2100MHz, but on some another sites I found 850MHz, 850/1900MHz. So I'm a little confused about it. Are XOOM MZ601 has many modifications with different HSDPA frequency or it some mistakes on specs? If second, what specs are correct?

    2. On this forum I read, that another region XOOM dosen't work with another region SIM. For example: USA XOOM dosen't work with EU SIM-card. But it can be reflashed for another region. I look at this page and found EU firmware. But according description on that page EU region includes only UK, Greece, Romania, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Ireland. No Russia on this list. So does XOOM MZ601 will work with russian SIM? May be anybody have that expirience?

    3. Can it be upgraded to ICS or Jelly Bean? I found some unnoficial firmware, but only for EU region. So can i reflash it from US to EU and that upgrade it to Jelly Bean or not?

Hope for fast answer, because our "beloved" goverment wants forbid any foregin buying soon (it's will happen through 50 days or earlier).

Thank you in advance and sorry for my English.

Do yourself a favor...spend same amount of money, and get a Nexus 7 Razor 2013 4G/LTE worldband unlocked, it runs KitKat, has double the power/speed of the Xoom (quad core CPU), 2GB ram, and even supports external USB thumb drives and sdcard/microsdcard readers, HDMI, 1080p resolution, etc

I would not spend $245 for a used/refurbished, obsolete 720p, dual core, 1GB Ram, 3G Xoom, that is out of warranty, discontinued/no longer supported by manufacturer, and where batteries are at their end of life.

    Nexus 7 (Razor) 2013 4G/LTE
    North America/Japan:
    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
    HSPA+: 850/900/1900/2100/AWS (1700/2100) MHz (Bands: 1/2/4/5/8)
    LTE: 700/850/1700/1800/1900/2100 MHZ (Bands: 1/2/3/4/5/13/17)

    Rest of World:

    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
    HSPA+: 850/900/1900/2100/AWS (1700/2100) MHz (Bands: 1/2/4/5/8)
    LTE: 800/850/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 MHz (Bands: 1/2/3/4/5/7/20)

Thank you for answer. I wanna by Nexus firstly, but don't find 3g version for those price (for 400+$ only). I'm looking it on Ebay and Amazon. I found 1st generation refubished Nexus for 200$ on Amazon, but it 1st generation. Can you give me a link to Razor for 200-250$ (refubished is ok)? Or may be another more modern tablet with 3g for those price (and if it would be 10 inch it will be very cool). Thank you in advance.

    We have/had 6 tablet devices:
    Moto Xoom 4G/LTE
    Galaxy Player 5
    Galaxy tab2 7
    Galaxy tab2 10
    Nexus 7 2013 4G/LTE
    Dell Venue 8 Pro
As for the Galaxy tab2 10 and 7, they are subpar to even the Moto Xoom. Good luck with that purchase. The Tab2 10 SGH-I497I is locked to AT&T, and is no longer even being updated, and will never see KITKAT. It is running Jellybean 4.2.2 ...I also have the Dell Venue 8 pro (windows 8.1 tab).…out of all the tablets I have the Venue is by far the best tab (it retails new for around $200), but the lack of mobile broadband 4G/LTE on it is what makes the Nexus 7 2013 4G/LTE/WIFI unlocked the best deal at $295
