EU / UK Xoom is NOT a Google Experience device.

Over on the Motorola forum it has been confirmed that the EU Xoom is not a GED device. So in the US, 3.1 was released by Google, but in the EU the roll out is handled by Moto directly. Moto have no control over the updates in the US and must stay stock honeycomb, in the EU they are able to add extra apps and have mentioned they may look at including Office HD etc as we go forward. I hope this 3.1 delay is not caused by the adding of bloat....

Paul Leeper, senior director of ecosystem partnership and management at Motorola Mobility, noted that the software configuration of the Xoom will allow more flexibility than the Google Experience Device (GED) that shipped in the US.
"Although we built the Xoom, Google dictated the process in the US. However, the devices shipping in Europe are not GEDs and so there is a lot more flexibility as far as preloaded software is concerned," he said.

Leeper also hinted that the MotoBlur interface could yet make an appearance on the tablet, noting that the overlay remains "very important to Motorola".

Not sure I'm happy about that.

Yep I read this yesterday and immediately updated to a rooted US 3.1 image. All of my apps (bar one) were restored and it was a relatively painless experience (I went from a stock unrooted WiFi UK 3.0.1).

It really is not worth the wait. I didnt before see a reason to root, but now Google/Moto has shown its colours seems the logical thing to do.
