Because he Wifi Only Xoom. So far only US Wifi Xoom received ICS.

Is the custom ICS safe to use with Australia 3g networks? Sorry just new to this.
Yes..it safe. We don't post or suggest anything that unsafe . But rules of the thumb "Flash At Your Own Risk"
Like Mickeymic, warranty voided as he running firmware that not meant for his country.(You can revert back for warranty purpose,if any)
If you going for custom, choose "EU 3G Xoom (umts_everest / MZ601)" to have working 3G and it will work for Australia.

    Gd luck..choice is yours

Tips of the day. Just joking
Some common problem and how to solve.
    - Read and understand.
    - Relax and dont panic, as this is the first attempt.
    - Ensure the files located at the correct place.
    - Follow the steps correctly.
    - Ensure the USB Debugging is enable during fastboot.
    - Use Original cable that come with your Xoom.
    - If you use PC, Use USB port from motherboard. Usually back of the PC cause the voltage supply is stable.
    - Dont share USB port.

If you stuck any where, dont panic. Stop and let us know.

Once you success...shout as loud as you can

I see Astrix has already replied about my statement, for Mikeymic his WiFi-only Xoom once loaded with the US firmware will automatically receive updates all the way to ICS and soon Jellybean, so it is the best plan for him, or in my humble opinion any WiFi-only user.

Although Astrix is technically correct about the warranty and non-specific firmware, a simple reload for the country of origin and re-lock and presto, no warranty issue.

Your 3G machine is a different storey, as suggested a custom ROM is your only path to ICS at this time, good luck!

Yeah... guess going this route would be the easiest for newbie like me and since jelly beans around the corner, guess I can play are with it and gain more knowledge before going the custom route... now I'm playing are with the 'Hubs' setup for xoom.

I guess I see it differently, but I would rather have my firmware from people who love the hardware and are dedicated to making it the best experience possible than those doing it for a paycheck. Custom ICS rules over stock from a very considerable height.

No argument here about the dedication of those who develope the custom ROMs for the Xoom, that wasn't my point, but rather the ease of which once on a GED the updates come to you automatically, no intervention required...

As for custom ROMs versus stock, I would say that is purely personal preferrence.

It would be purely personal preference if stock wasn't outperformed and/or outcustomised by pretty much all the custom ROMs!

As it is, you can restrict a custom ROM to looking as drab and performing as poorly as stock, but why would you wanna?

I can sort of understand not messing with the warranty and getting frustrated with a lack of updates, but not why someone would invalidate the warranty anyway and then stick with stock, when it could be so much better ...

In my opinion using goomanager to handle your nightly updates is no more technically difficult than updating stock with an official update, and much less risky.

Again, your preference and opinion, not that of everybody.

Besides this is off topic as the thread is for staying with the stock ROMs as offered by Google/Motorola...
