This is a discussion on UK wifi 3.1 - possible to root? within the Non U.S. Xoom General Discussion forums, part of the International Motorola Xoom Forum category; Originally Posted by ggrant3876 We have a new guide, you might take a look at it. http://www.xoomforums.com/forum/moto...oid-3-2-a.html Solarnz has done a universal root any zoom ...
There was a member yesterday that successfully rooted a non US Xoom with this method.
SGS-IV-Stock_Rooted
Nexus 4 - CyanMod 10.1
SGS-II - Rooted - Jedi Mind Trick VX3
Samsung Note II - Jedi Master 13
Motorola Xoom - WiFi - Rooted - EOS 4.2.1 Nightlies
ok, I have found a set up Im very happy with.
I tried the "root any version" and although it worked great I was stuck on 3.1 uk firmware.
I then found on google some instructions for making the xoom a GED device which moves away from motorolas branding, and basically involves using the usa firmware, which is GED ready, then letting the device update twice to 3.2 before applying a recovery image which allows you to send the device the su root files.
Im all up and running, updated to 3.2, with root access, a sappy ged boot imageand full uk keyboard. the marketplace is correctly shown in £ and everything runs the fastest ive had my xoom run yet. I am also lead to believe It will continue to update via google on the day of any new releases.
If any uk wifi's want to follow my lead and can't find the article them just pm me and ill trawl it out but it was easy enough to find on google.
oh, cifs manager didnt want to know for some reason but i replaced it with andsmb which i preffer and works great.
happy days then!
ps overclocking is my next mission as im a power hungry fool!
Hi
Would it be the reason why Rom Manager refuses to flash the latest Clockworkmod on my Xoom?
Frustrating as RM is the only way to flash for me with my Powerbook OSX 10.4.
I got my zoom few days ago and did the update HC 3.1 Europe.
Thanks
T.
Welcome to the forum. The latest recovery on Rom Manager isn't really viable with the Xoom.
Remember: It's not really yours until you've voided the warranty.
