How to tell if video is hd?

Hey I've got an avi file that lags on my Dinc. Do I just look at the resolution and compare it to

    1280x720 and 1920x1080

Or is there another way of telling whether its HD or not. Thanks

HD is ANYTHING over 720x480(or 576 outside the US) technically. It is a measurement of video size NOT a level of quality.

I have an SD (standard def) camera that will out perform some lower-end HD cameras and any HD cell phone or tablet.

That being said.... YES your standard HD will be 720 or 1280 the p or i is for progressive or interlaced. Interlaced is only for broadcast (read television) and the only reason it exists is Sony. They are "hanging on to it" for some reason. I will leave that alone.

The future is 720p or 1280p at 30 or 60 frames a second. But things like tablets and phone have a hard time keeping up with TRUE HD broadcast speeds/bitrates. For instance a BluRay movie is almost 30GB in size and that is still compressed H.264 or VC-1.

Standard video sizes for a HD disk:

The AVI container format is not supported on the Xoom nativity. It may play with a 3rd party player. Here is the supported list. The AVI container is OLD OLD OLD
