good thing, will be moving from a place that is very unstable right now, to somewhere very modern and westernized.

see, just received this warning today:

Egypt: Ramadan raises risk of politically destabilising social unrest in Egypt
Customs workers at Cairo International Airport and eight other ports and airports in
Egypt began an open-ended strike yesterday (4 June 2013). The customs workers are
demanding higher pay, holding officials accountable for alleged corruption and better
working conditions. Furthermore, the Tamarrod (Rebel) campaign, which is seeking
to collect 15 million signatures on a petition demanding the removal of President Morsi,
has scheduled mass protests for 30 June, outside the Ettihadia Presidential Palace in Cairo
and in other public spaces across the country. The campaign reports that it has already
collected 7 million signatures. Compounding these labour and political pressures, IHS
sources and Egyptian media have reported that diesel and electricity shortages are becoming
more acute. This is likely to worsen as summer begins, and domestic demand for diesel and
electricity peaks. Lastly, the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan is set to begin in the second
week of July. This is typically preceded by increases in the price of food. This year's increases
are likely to be worse than previous years, due to the devaluing of the Egyptian pound and the
restriction of food imports (around 70% of Egypt's total food needs) by the central bank.
Rising prices and fuel and electricity shortages increase the risk of mass unrest. Furthermore,
strikes are likely to intensify in conjunction with the Tamarrod campaign's protests, which are
scheduled to begin on 30 June. The customs strike has not led to the complete shutdown of the
facilities it is targeting. Nonetheless, should this occur and last for several weeks, for instance,
as a result of other workers joining the strike, the Army would come under increased pressure
to intervene to either sacrifice the Muslim Brotherhood government and restore public order,
or to break up the strikes, raising the risk of unrest further.
    Significance:
There is a severe risk of Egypt facing a "perfect storm" in early July, with strikes, protests
over prices and fuel and electricity shortages, and politically motivated protests coinciding.
On their own, none of these factors would seriously threaten the survival of the Muslim
Brotherhood-dominated government. However, if they coincide, the risk that mass unrest and
infrastructure closures could lead the Army to intervene and restore some measure of direct
political control, possibly involving a presidential council, will increase.
