WordPress For Android Updated To 2.1, Brings Autosave, Comment Editing, UI Changes, And More
by DAVID RUDDOCK
WordPress's official Android app has been updated with a bunch o' new features, as well as numerous performance and UI enhancements. The popular blogging platform's (hey, we use it) app has been on a bit of a bumpy road since its initial release, but has consistently been improving over the last year. Hopefully this release will stomp some of the issues that have made it a bit frustrating to use at times. Here's the changelog:
What's new in version 2.1:
Autosave timer while editing posts. Every 60 seconds the post will be autosaved.
Full support for editing comments
Added support for setting the width of linked images
All new WordPress.com reader. Navigating posts is much faster and you can add comments to posts that you are reading. You can also share the post to other Android apps!
UI improvements
New app icon
Reliability improvements
Translation updates
Full comment editing support is a biggy, for sure, and autosaving is something that should have been present from day one, considering the fact that this is a mobile app used on devices that can have particularly aggressive memory management. There's nothing worse than switching out of an app only to have it restart when you return, especially when you lose data because of it.
So, if you run a WordPress blog and you've been avoiding the mobile app for its lack of features or frustrating finicky-ness, maybe it's time to give it another shot.
