Xoom responsiveness is very choppy. Performance is awful.

Since yesterday evening, my Xoom (Verizon 4G LTE non-rooted) is not functioning very well.

After the Xoom starts, sometimes the apps start fast like normal but then either while I am using the app or maybe if I try and switch to another app, the Xoom appears to hang for sometime. Generally, it is long enough to get the "x app is not responding. Close - Wait - Report" message. Usually, I can click on Wait and then shortly after the app responds.

I have gone to the Applications area under settings and killed some processes that I thought might be part of the problem from apps I didn't need to have running. That didn't help.

I have run one of the cache cleaner apps. That didn't work.

I have rebooted (using the volume/power button combo) at least 10 times today trying to improve the performance. That hasn't worked. Some of those reboots were out of necessity because the Xoom was "hung" loading an app. For example, I would click on the 'Kindle' app from the Home Screen and it would highlight like it was selected but it would not start and the entire Xoom would lock up, forcing me to the soft reboot.

Yesterday afternoon, I installed several updates from the Android Market and also a couple of new apps so I am guessing one of those actions caused the issue. I have uninstalled the two apps I installed and even uninstalled the apps that I could remember had updates. Still no luck.

Very frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Try clearing the cache, it may be harboring something troublesome. Various utility apps can do it (e.g. App2SD), or go through each app in Manage Apps.

I have a Kill all Apps widget which usually solves the problem if there is a "go slow". A good widget for this comes with System Tuner, but there are several others. However that isn't likely to help if you've tried rebooting

Used to have that too, also my Xoom would go from like 95% to 60% when nobody touches it when I'm at school, I deleted cache from everything and uninstalled a bunch of apps that I never touched, and I c most of them running in the background since. After that, everything was good to go!

Thanks for the advice. I cleared the cache again, uninstalled some more apps, left overnight powered off and it worked fine today.
