Xoom Stuck in Boot Mode with no ability to recover
Hi All,
I wonder if anyone can help me? I've just bought a second hand US Xoom wifi off Amazon.com and am already having problems with it. I reckon the previous owner has tried to root the Xoom and bricked it. Before sending it back for a refund, I want to try to fix it myself.
After reading a number of posts on the forum, it looks like I'm having a number of issues:
1. Even after I've downloaded and installed the latest Motorola USB drivers, my Windows XP laptop does not respond to the Xoom being plugged in (not even recognizing it as a generic device)
2. I've downloaded the SDK Tools, but when I run "adb.exe", my laptop can't find any device attached, even when the Xoom is attached using the Motorola USB cable
3. On booting the Xoom, it gets stuck in the red circle boot mode
4. On rebooting (vol+ and power), when I enter "Android Recovery" I get "Entering Android Recovery Mode", "Reading ODM fuse: 1" then nothing
5. On rebooting again, when I select "Fastboot" I get "Starting Fastboot protocol support" then "Failed to process command error (oxa000e)" in red, which repeats over and over
6. On rebooting, when I select "RSD" I get "Starting RSD protocol support 0" and two lines about the charge state, then the Xoom quickly reboots back into the red circle boot screen
I'm struggling here... any clues?
Thanks for all your help.

I can probably help with first issue you raised as I also had trouble getting Windows XP to recognise the Xoom through the USB port.
In addition to the Motorola drivers you also need to have Windows media player 11 installed because the Xoom does it's actual connection as a media player device.
Welcome to the forum and I am sure some of our more expert contributors will sort the rest of your problems.

Thanks for your welcome! To answer your questions one by one:
1. I am using the USB that came with the Xoom (it has a "Ecomoto" label on the side)
2. I'm already using Windows Media Player 11 (v11.0.5721)
3. I'm not able to start the Xoom - it hangs on the red M circle - so cannot get to settings to enable USB debugging
4. On rebooting (vol+ and power), I can select "Android Recovery". Pressing power button does not do anything; pressing vol+ brings up "Reading ODM Fuse: 1".
I therefore cannot wipe the cache and factory reset.
Thank you so much for all your support - I REALLY want to get my Xoom running properly!

Have you tried all the methods in this thread to get Windows to recognize it?
Ways to get Windows to recognize your Xoom
If we can get the PC to recognize it, then maybe we can find some solutions to go from there.
And for the record, the Windows MP 11 thing really only works if it isn't already installed. So during the install, it will force the computer to recognize newly plugged in media devices. Messing with the setting in it may get it to clear things out and maybe get it to start recognizing them again - sort of like re-assigning files to different programs.
Also, be sure you reboot your computer after installing any of those things. Often times, people install the MOTO drivers and the sdk, but don't reboot the system. Reboot after installing anything just to be sure and NEVER plug in any USB device until after installing the drivers and restarting the machine. Most people don't do this and run into problems and pull out half their hair before trying it.
