And when you run the fastboot command with the xoom in fastboot mode what happens?
Can't help ya there bud. PM AZSteelman. Maybe he can help.
Hey, got your PM -- I'm in PHX, just reading over this thread. I think you missed something Droid-Xer suggested...maybe not, but just to be sure...he said to do the following, and I want to be sure you did it on your Xoom -
Boot like you're booting into recovery but keep pressing the vol- until fast boot then.press vol+
Put the xoom in fastboot, connect to PC via USB and then type the unlock fastboot command and proceed to the restore.
it's important to really be careful and pay extra special attention to make sure you hit things just right...

Alcohol may not solve your problems, but neither will milk and cookies!

Leave your Xoom plugged into PC with USB cable. Are you using original USB cable?
Have your command open and ready at your path that you use for commands.
Restart your Xoom with the power and volume combo. Now watch your PC for any hint or flash that something is recognized.
If it does its during these few seconds that you would have to input a command. I would suggest having your command already typed in and ready to press enter on your PC.
I would say make sure your typing everything exactly the way it needs to be.
Make sure your spaces are right.
Commands must be exact or you won't get any results.
