Problem with preferences not working in upgraded 4g stock xoom
Greetings...
New member, hope I'm in the right catecgory. I have a Xoom tablet that was 3g when I purchased it. I sent it in for the upgrade and it was working fine until a few days ago. I use the stock browser and I first noticed that clicking results on search results pages, (mainly google), were not opening in a new window. I always have pages open in new and I had no problem doing so until now.
I set the google search pref's to open in new, as always, but they won't take. I also opened the xoom settings from inside the stock browser, went to "advanced" and then to "open tabs in background". Doesn't matter, I cannot get pages to open in new window. And now as I use my tablet, I'm noticing a couple of other things are not working, like auto-cap's or auto correct letter "I" for "i". If this was a PC, I would say it had a virus. But my first objective is how to get the browser to open search results in a new window.
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum.
Glad you decided to join us. Try a soft reboot, press and hold the power button and the volume up button together until the Xoom starts to reboot, then release them both. This will clear up a lot of little problems.

Hi ggrant3876 -
Thank you for the reply!
I gave it a go but did not seem to do anything to settings. Went back to google and made sure "open new window" was ticked
and so forth but could not get it to work. I then went to the iGoogle settings, removed the check mark for open new window,
saved then went to Search Settings and did the same and went to the xoom advanced settings and uncheck the box there.
Then I did a soft reboot. When it was on again, I went back through in reverse and checked the boxes in each setting to open
a new window.
It didn't work. Ran a search and tried a few results but would not open in new. I can go to my PC and go to the same google
page without a problem. And btw, I made sure I had closed or signed out of google on the other browsers/pc's before doing the test.
Do you think throwing it at the wall would work?

No, I don't think that would work. You might try a factory data reset, something you've done of downloaded could have corrupted the settings. You might wait for some more responses too.
