"open flash" that is 1.0 mb.......i must have downloaded at some time..trying to open flash ....What could be possibly wrong? Even before I sent the xoom to update to 4G to Motorola, I was unable to play videos. tku for yur patience......deniseo ....
Bummer. Just to be clear, you've been typing "excellsfun" but you meant "excelisfun" right?
Okay, then you definitely have flash installed properly, so let's rule that out, and don't worry about being rooted or not; that isn't the issue now.
Are you accessing the site through your internet browser, or the YouTube app on the Xoom? Are you able to see other YouTube videos BESIDES Excelisfun?
When you tap here (do this on your Xoom,) does it give you the option of playing with your browser or YouTube?
I am able to view these videos both from my browser and the YouTube app on my Xoom without any issues. Let us know these answers and we'll proceed after that.
Folks, if this turns out not to be a user issue, do we think a factory reset might be of help? Of course Deniseo would have to understand the repercussions of doing this...
Is everyone else able to see this playing okay?

Deniseo, please answer ALL OF THESE questions:
1. Are you trying to watch videos in the YOUTUBE APP, or,
2. Are you trying to watch videos in an internet browser?
3. If yes to a browser, which one? The stock browser, chrome, dolphin or other?
4. Were you EVER able to watch videos before?
5. If yes, was it only after upgrading from Honeycomb to ICS?
If the answer to this mystery doesn't materialize when you answer ALL FIVE of the questions above, then I'm running out of suggestions.
This is obviously a software issue, not hardware. You might have installed an app from the market that has caused this, or inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that is eluding me. Doing a factory reset would clear any software issues. Then, BEFORE RE-installing any market apps, you should immediately install flash (from my link), and THEN try the YouTube app. THAT will be very telling.
Yes, a factory reset will erase everything. You can transfer all of your data (music/photos) to your SDCARD or move them to your PC as you've pointed out. Transferring isn't difficult. Plug in the cable, wait for the drivers to install, then a folder should open. From there you can navigate on your PC and easily drag and drop from the internal & sdcard locations, to you PC.
I'd be looking for that cable if I were you.

I hope you are safe and have no damage! By the way, if you have an Android cellphone (Moto or other) with the MicroUSB connector, that cable would work too.

lessismore...no damage to my house...a tree on my mothers fence.....but no electricity....no heat....no hot water....and everything spoiling in the fridge....and of course no TV.... only 1/4 tank of gas left in the car and no gas at the station
s with electricity.......will only use car for a grocery run.....and NOTHING playing on this xoom....
q
question 3 ......i could not get the return bar back in the number order....anyway....whenever the browser gives me a choice...usually it is the colored ball or the blue ball...neither one plays the video.........question 4...i was able to watch videos on tv.com....now i cant even watch those anymore....Question 5... i cannot answer...i dont know what i had before ICS.....
question 1.......i dont think that i have a you tube app.....if i want to look at you tube.....i go to you tube.com .........the website that i have been trying to access is excellsfun ...not excelisfun.....it is not the one through you tube
question 2.......i dont think that i know how to request the browser manually.......i usually go to a website and just click on the video...then it does not play...even if a box asks if i want to use the scope or the blue ball...it stilldoes not play...regardless of the one i choose
-
To continue...lessismore......question 5..... i believe that it was only as i sent the xoon to Motorola to get the 4g that it got as bad as this....i was able to see videos on tv.com before the upgrade......i think that my son has a droid phone and cable...but i have really given up....this is too complicated for a non-techy like me... i know that by my answers and questions that everyone knows that i am quite clueless about this xoom...bad decision to buy....i will selland buy an ipad or i see that microsoft now has Surface.... Is Surface as friendly as a regular computer.....or would i need to know about technical stuff also? tku deniseo

Lessismore....i think that i should re-name the name of this thread....it should be that many videos from you tube not playing...but ALSO....videos fron the regular web are definitely not playing....that is why i had asked u about the website excellsfun....can u find this website and check on whether u can play those tutorial videos? tku much.....deniseo

What a bag of worms.
I THINK I found out what ALL THIS CONFUSION is about. You've been hijacked.
There is a YouTube USER named EXCELISFUN. His real name is Mike Girvin and I believe HE IS the guy who's videos you want to watch. He has his own Facebook page as well - http://www.facebook.com/excelisfun
As I pointed out previously, there IS NO SUCH website called "excellsfun" (with two LL's) under any extension (.com, .org, .edu) NADA. Mike Girvin ONLY distributed his videos on YouTube under the username of EXCELISFUN. At the time, he hadn't purchased any domains; he only had his YOUTUBE presence.
Then, early last year, A DIFFERENT organization came along (named TeachExcel.com) and actually bought a domain called excelisfun.com, and because THEY bought the domain BEFORE Mike Girvin was able to, it was legal. Mike Girvin had no recourse.
Then, to FURTHER aggravate the problem, THAT organization also hijacked Mike Girvin's video's and embedded them into THEIR site. They actually had the GALL to try and sell products there. Without permission, that is technically a NO NO (copyright violation!) I believe he issued a complaint and it was stopped. Now When you go to that address, you are immediately redirected to www.TeachExcel.com where you can find THEIR videos. Unfortunately, the two entities are now so hopelessly intertwined, that you still get directed to wrong places. WHAT A MESS! Mike Girvin actually created a video himself, explaining the whole mess. I've posted that below.
NOW Deniseo, back to you. This isn't a Xoom problem (hardware) but rather a convoluted software mess. I still think you have a browser issue and I want to prove it. I've gone way beyond and above to try and help you here, so this is the least you can do:
Please go to the market and install the official YouTube app (amazing that you don't have it already.)
Then start the YouTube app, and in the search box, type Mike Girvin. Select any of his videos. I bet dollars to donuts, that this is your guy, and that they will play. PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT THIS ASAP.
Next, if the above step is true, and the videos play in YouTube, but NOT IN YOUR BROWSER (yes, the little round blue globe,) then your browser is either missing a plugin, or is corrupted, or twisted up by another app (probably not though...) They fact that you only see a black box (sometimes with a down arrow) FROM INSIDE YOUR BROWSER, almost certainly suggests this.
Please do the above, come back to me, and then I'll have ONE FINAL suggestion.
DENISEO may not be able to see this, but for those that can, the issue is explained well here:
P.S. I'm glad that you and yours are okay after Sandy. Sorry you're having all those difficulties though...
