    is my xoom overheating?

hi I've. bought my xoōm 4 days ago and now it sems like its heating after a couple of hours while browsing the web watching videos and using some other apps... so I've downlade elixir to monitor the temp' and it seems like tĥe xoom is very easily reaching 100-104f battery degrees and even sometimes when loaded 104-105, it even reached 109 once when use it in a car...

I dont know if its because of the way I use my xoom or maybe the motorola portfolio case or perhaps a device defect...

does it suppose to be like that or is there something wrong with my device?

Where are you from? It is insanely hot is various parts of the world. Although those temps sound high, it has been 104-105 in some parts of the world. Do you notice the same issue in an Air-Conditioned room?

Do you have the Xoom overclocked?

Well... right now i'm using it inside my house... room temperature is about 86 fahrenheit in here ... (30 celcius) and the device went up to 102f while all i'm doing with it is just browsing the web... and not even that intensely....

    what should I do ?!

and why in pitts name have the placed all the connections and the microphone on the bottom of it and the headphones on top, how am I suppose to make it stand and yet be able to speak / charge it ?!? and that portfolio case - are they crazy ?! should I be able to charge my thingy when it's closed in the protecting case !?

Mine runs at temps like that every time I've been on a kernel with overclocked gpu. Doesn't really make sense, but its true...

Are you running a stock Xoom or have you rooted it?

    I would also go to:
Settings | Applications | Running Services and see what you have running in the background. Perhaps you have recently downloading an app that is doing some disk thrashing.

If you would like to post a list of the running services I would be happy to validate it for you.

Well... since I'd really really wouldn't like to have to get rid of my device I'd like to do whatever it is that you suggest

-> running xoom as it was given to me by bestbuy (USA)
    -> running apps:
    [Running services]
    settings
    skype
    elixir
    google services
    music
    maps
    email
    anysoftkeyboard

    [Cached processes]
    Launcher
    Media
    Android Core Apps
    Clock
    Google Search
    Browser
    Google Partner Setup
    Package Access Helper
    Gmail
    Books
    Google Accounts
    Maps
    My Uploads

-> I'm using elixir to read the battery temp. (shows the same values as androsensor)
-> The xoom is currently in a horizontal standing position in it's not so bright portfolio case.

Thanks for the help, i'm just really frustrated by this thing... donow what to do next...

Ok..... your list looks reasonable but I won't temporarily disable the following:
    Skype, Email, and Anysoftkeyboard

If the temperature does not drop after this it is definitely not a problem due to background processing. If the Xoom seems to be overheating due to browsing, I would consider challenging the warranty..... I am not experiencing anything like that and I also use the portfolio case.

Hope it works out for you!

Go to: Settings | About tablet | Battery Use

What are the process that have taken up more than 10% (other than Screen)?
